Holiday Workshops by the Education Unit of RMBR

Holiday Workshops

Take a break from school and have fun learning about biodiversity this holiday! The Raffles Museum now offers a series of hands-on workshops in the month of November to intrigue young minds.

WORLD OF REPTILES

A chance to get hands-on with an array of reptile specimens! Participants will be introduced to various groups of reptiles and look at why they are the same and yet so very different. We will also introduce the largest reptiles that once roamed the Earth, the ‘terrible lizards’ otherwise known as the Dinosaurs. Join us as we unfold the mysteries of reptiles.

Date: 21 November 2011 (9.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.)

WORLD OF PLANTS

Ever wondered about the beautiful plants around you? Participants of this workshop will be given a guided walk on Kent Ridge to explore the variety of plants found there. They will also learn how to preserve plants. Challenge your creative juices as we try to preserve the beauty of plants in a bookmark.

Date: 22 November 2011 (9.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.)

WORLD OF SPIDERS

This workshop introduces the diversity of spiders in Singapore with the use of live and preserved specimens. Participants will also get a chance to go on a spider hunt. Our resident spider expert will guide you through a close examination of the spiders and reveal their many hidden secrets.
