To commemorate the 5th International Hornbill Conference, William T. Cooper has been commissioned to paint the Oriental Pied Hornbill, the only species of Hornbill found wild in Singapore. This species is also the subject of study by the Singapore Hornbill Project. William Cooper is one of the world’s foremost wildlife artist, and his paintings are eagerly sought by collectors worldwide. The painting is titled “Enticement” (89 x 68 cm), and depicts a male Hornbill enticing a female with a MacArthur Palm fruit, on a Symplocos cochinchinensis tree; this behaviour is common before the female is sealed in her nest. Limited edition (numbered and signed by William Cooper) high quality giclee prints on canvas (edition size 120; 72 x 54 cm) will be made available for sale. Orders made before 31 Dec 2008, and collected at the Conference will cost S$550 (excluding 7% GST); orders from 1st Jan 2009 will cost S$600 (excluding 7% GST and postage). All proceeds will go to the Singapore Hornbill Project.” The limited edition print can be sent by post at overseas postal rate.
