Professor Leo Tan appointed Justice of the Peace

In a ceremony held at the Istana on 8 May 2013, 74 Justices of the Peace were appointed by President Tony Tan Keng Yam. Among them is our very own Professor Leo Tan!

Professor Tan is currently serving as Director (Special Projects) in the Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore, and plays a key role in the museum as we prepare to move into the next chapter of our long history. A trained marine biologist, Professor Tan’s key interests lie in marine biology and ecology, mangrove regeneration, aquaculture, environmental education, and science education and communication. Over the years, Professor Tan has also taken on a leading role in many scientific institutes and contributed greatly to Singapore’s scientific community, especially in the field of science education and communication.

We congratulate Professor Tan on his appointment as a Justice of the Peace!
