In preparation for the shift to the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum of the National University of Singapore, an extensive inventory and maintenance on the collections of the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research will be conducted.
In order to facilitate this, the museum’s collections will be closed to scientific visitors and loans of specimens will be suspended. Users who have loaned out specimens are urged to return these before the stock-taking.
The public gallery will remain open and accessible to all.
The closure dates are:
- 01 May 2012 – Herbarium (SINU)
- 01 Aug 2012 – Zoological Reference Collection (ZRC)
The collections are expected to be accessible once again in Feb 2014 at the earliest.

I heard that there is this final display of the specimen of the Raffles Museum in the final week of March. May I know when are the opening hours?
Hi Sau Ying,
Yes! We are hosting a week of tours during the one week term break (18-22 March) as a last hurrah to the museum as it stands now.
