买三恐龙化石资金已募足 ( 早报, 7 September 2011)
Click on image to download pdf. 三恐龙数月后抵新 (2011-09-07) 经过两个月的筹款,李光前自然历史博物馆(Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum)终于募集到足够资金,确定购买在美国发掘出的三副真品恐龙化石。如果一切顺利,我们无需等到博物馆2014年落成,就能参观这些化石展览。 博物馆锁定的三副梁龙(Diplodocus)化石出土于怀俄明州,图中这只恐龙是三副中最小,名字叫”小不点”(Twinky),它和另外两副”阿波罗”(Apollo)和”王子”(Prince),将在几个月后运到新加坡。(Dinosauria International提供) 相关新闻刊第9页 买三恐龙化石资金已募足 (2011-09-07) 陈能端 报道 在一位要求匿名的善心人士大力支持下,李光前自然历史博物馆募集到足够的资金,把三副真品恐龙化石买下,让新加坡人不必出国,也能看到恐龙化石展览。 博物馆锁定的三副梁龙(Diplodocus)化石出土于Dinosauria International在怀俄明州(Wyoming)所拥有的采石场。这家公司的两名负责人上周末专程来新了解博物馆的筹款进展,并与一位有意作出巨额捐款的捐赠者见面。大家经过几日的协商后,得到圆满的结果,而博物馆与Dinosauria International两天前签署了购置化石的协议。 博物馆最初表示三副化石的售价为830万元,上个月他们向媒体透露,仅筹得189万元的款项,距离目标还有一大截。至于如何在短短数周内就有了戏剧化的转机,博物馆负责人解释,由于主要捐款者提出了保密要求,博物馆无法透露相关细节。 新加坡国立大学属下的莱佛士生物多样性研究博物馆去年获得李氏基金捐款2500万元资助扩充计划,新馆将称为李光前自然博物馆。莱佛士生物多样性研究博物馆馆长黄衤冀麟教授说:”恐龙要来了,那是毋庸置疑的。目前,三副化石当中有两副已经完全出土,几个月后就会陆续运往新加坡。” 换言之,在李光前自然历史博物馆竣工之前,化石就已经抵新。黄衤冀麟因此不排除如果有适当的展示空间,化石可能在2014年之前就能展示。 看似遥不可及的梦想,现在如愿以偿,自然历史博物馆筹款委员会主席陈伟兴教授说,他们深深感谢慷慨解囊的公众、机构和私人捐赠者。接下来,博物馆还会为恐龙化石相关展览所需的200万元进行募捐活动。 三副梁龙化石经过一番周折后,终于落户新加坡,高兴的不仅是博物馆,连卖家也感到欣慰。 Dinosauria International的主席阿伯斯德费尔(Albersdorfer)和董事加利亚诺(Galiano)受访时指出,名为”阿波罗”(Apollo)、”王子”(Prince)和”小不点”(Twinky)的梁龙化石完整度高达85%,是十分罕见的发现。除了李光前自然历史博物馆,对它们兴趣浓厚的还有私人买家、其他学术机构以及苏富比拍卖行(Sotherby’s)。不过,他们坚信李光前自然历史博物馆是这些化石最好的”归宿”,所以不介意两次为博物馆延长敲定交易的期限。 加利亚诺说:”假如我们是把化石卖给美国自然历史博物馆,它们不会得到应有的注意,因为美国自然历史博物馆恐龙化石太多了。我期待新加坡会因此受到科学界的瞩目。” 阿伯斯德费尔则认为新加坡现在为自然历史博物馆引进恐龙化石”时机已到”。他说:”许多历史悠久的欧美自然历史博物馆因为拥有恐龙化石而闻名,它们启发了一代又一代的参观者。对新加坡这个富裕的国家而言,现在成立一流的自然历史博物馆,也是时机对了。” 随着三副梁龙找到了新的主人,和它们相关的最新研究结果也将陆续曝光,推动科学家对这类恐龙进化过程的了解。 为了让新加坡公众能进一步了解梁龙,以及认识挖掘化石的过程,阿伯斯德费尔和加利亚诺这趟来新也特别借出六截梁龙尾骨给莱佛士生物多样性研究博物馆,让他们展示到年底。 *nengduan@sph.com.sg
